LifeCare Hospitals of San Antonio is located within the South Texas Medical Center. We are licensed for 62 beds and have a medical staff of more than 300 physicians. All our nurses and respiratory therapists are ACLS certified. We are accredited by The Joint Commission and are Medicare certified. Like all LifeCare Hospitals, we specialize in the treatment of medically complex patients who require extended hospitalization, typically for more than 25 days. We are passionate about giving our patients the best chance at recovery from acute injury or illness by providing early and aggressive intervention in a critical care setting. Our treatment team includes physicians, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists and therapists across a range of disciplines, providing state of the art physical, speech, occupational, respiratory, wound and psychological therapy. We believe this interdisciplinary approach helps speed physical, emotional and spiritual recovery. We embrace each of our patients as individuals with a personal history and a unique health situation and we provide the compassion, support, and nurturing necessary to achieve optimal recovery. Results of patient satisfaction surveys indicate that 95 percent of our patients feel “increased confidence in caring for themselves” upon discharge from our facility. Due to the high demand for our services, LifeCare Hospitals of San Antonio opened a new 62-bed hospital for the medically complex patient on July 1, 2007 LifeCare Hospitals of San Antonio For a map or driving directions, click here. Admissions The process is easy. Simply ask the physician to write an order to "Consult LifeCare Hospitals of San Antonio" for transfer or admission. The individual receiving the order need only call us to arrange for a Clinical Liaison to evaluate you or your loved one. Our carefully trained Liaison will complete a bedside assessment to evaluate the patient within 2 hours. If clinically appropriate, it should take no more than 24 hours to have the patient admitted to one of our campuses. We accept Medicare and most private insurance, and will coordinate with your insurance company to ensure a seamless admission process. Our Liaison will be happy to answer any questions you may have about our program, and we encourage you to tour our hospital. If we are unable to accept you or your loved one, we will be happy to recommend other options.
